What could be better at the end of a cool autumn day than an aromatic and delicious dinner? If nothing else, so this recipe is for you! Stew with sausages is often served in pubs, since they definitely know how to beat the bad weather with pleasant atmosphere and delicious food.
Cut onion into large cubes. Cut the celery into pieces 3.5-4 cm long. Cut carrots and garlic in the same way.
Heat the olive oil in pan over medium heat. Put the sausages “Thuringer” and fry for 8-10 minutes, turning periodically. Put back into plate.
Add onion, carrot, celery, bay leaf and springs of thyme. Fry for 7-10 minutes. Then add garlic, ground fennel seeds and chili flakes. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Put the content of pan into a saucepan and add barley, tomatoes and twist of lemon. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Put back sausages into the saucepan, reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes until done. If necessary, add broth or water at cooking. Add salt and pepper at the end.
